Answers Sudden Call Of Death
Judge B S Chinn of 426 State Street, died at 4:30 pm yesterday, age fifty - seven years following a stroke of paralysis Tuesday morning. Judge Chinn was one of the pioneers of Springfield. He was born December 10, 1852 at Shellyville KY and came to Missouri with his parents when he was seven years old. In 1882 he came to Springfield with his practice living here ever since. He served two terms as Justice of the Peace, but was better known to many as owner of the Chinn Feed and Produce Company which for many years had is head quarter on the south side of East Walnut Street between Jefferson and South Street.
He is survived by a second wife, one daughter, Mrs. Ollie Allen of Grant Street, two sons Hiram D and William.
Judge Chinn was known and respected by most of the older residents of Springfield. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with internment at Hazelwood Cemetery under the auspices of the Atlas Lodge 212, Knights of Phytias. Mr. Chinn was also a member of the local lodge of the order of Elks, many of whom will attend the services to respect the memory of their brother.
