Bernard Joseph Ferdinand Rothove - commonly refered to as Ferdinand Rothove was born in Lehmbrock, a farming area just to the west of Ostbevern Germany. He emmigrated on the sailing ship Olbers in December of 1840, arriving in New Orleans LA. in January of 1841. He was married in 1843. 9 children were born of this marriage with only four living into adulthood. Those being Bernard Herman Rothove, Herman Joseph Rothove, Johan Heinrich Rothove, and Margaret Josephine Rothove Veit.

Ferdinand immigrated with the skill of a carpenter.

Attached to the right is the 1861 land purchase document and his Last Will, from July 1868. His last will was filed with Cole County AFTER his death; on July 31st.

He and his wife settled on the west side of North 11th street between Biddle and O'Fallon across the street of what would become the Shrine of St. Joseph parish. (city directories)

Ferdinand and his family moved to N. Market Street between N. 15th and N. 16th (St. Liborius parish), between 1854 and 1857 (city directories).

-Bernard Joseph Ferdinand Rothove and Maria Catharina Rakers Rothove moved to Taos, Liberty Township, Cole County, Missouri, in 1861 and purchased property bordering the Osage river, south of Taos,

Land purchase records show this to be 107 and 82/100 acres purchaed from Henry Rackers located at Township 43N, Range 11W, Section 24.

As prescribed in his will, his debts were to be paid off. The land was sold in order to comply with the will as evidenced by the probate records.

He did NOT die on 13 August 1875 as other researchers have suggested. The Ferdinand Rothove found there was his grandson.
