Funeral for Arlo Thurman Abercrombie, 82, of Decatur will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Beltline Church of Christ with Mike Nix officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr Abercrombie died Tuesday, Feb 20, 2001, at his home. He was born Jan 4, 1919, in Union Hill to Benjamin "Dock David" Abercrombie and Annie Miller Abercrombie. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Beltline Church of Christ and Elks Lodge No 655. A former elementary and high school teacher, he was the first principal of Crestline Elementary School in Hartselle and Eastwood Elementary School in Decatur. He was a retired teacher from Calhoun Community College.

Survivors include his wife, Ileene W Abercrombie; one son, Larry Abercrombie of Decatur; two brothers, Wilber Abercrombie of Athens and Truman Abercrombie of Somerville; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Bill Walker, Billy Abercrombie, "Dock" David Abercrombie, Bob Neighbor, Shirley Abercrombie and Richard Parker.
