services for Sarah Whitehead Berry,
80, will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 8,
2004 at Vivian Cemetery. Visitation
will be Friday from 10 a.m. until serv-
ice time at McGuire Funeral Home.
Mrs. Berry passed away October 6,
2004 at Schumpert Medical Center af-
ter a lengthy illness. She was born
May 14, 1924 in Augusta, GA and
was a housewife. She was a resident
of Shreveport, LA for 58 years. was a
former resident of Vivian, LA and was
a member of First Baptist Church in
Vivian, LA.
She is survived by her husband
Glenn A. Berry of Shreveport, LA,
son James Berton Berry of Natchi-
toches, LA; daughter, Sue Ellen Berry
Reich of Antlers, OK, she was preced-
ed in death by her sister, Marion
Howell Culpepper. She is also sur-
vivid by sisters: Isabelle Green of La-
fayette, LA and Mercedese Ivins of
Mineola, TX; brother, Mercer Dodge
of Sarepta, LA, four grandchildren and
one great grandchild.

Mrs. Berry was raised in Trees City, LA by mother Susie Hart Dodge who was the operator of the hotel, and in Vivian, LA.
Graduate of Vivian High School, Vivian, LA. During World War II she was a chauffeur for officers at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA. Also, she was a cashier at the local Vivian SWEPCO (Southwestern Electric Power Company), and attended Draughon Business School in Shreveport.
