Myrtle I. Carlson, 86, a lifelong resident of Duluth, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, while at Bayshore Health Center.

Myrtle was a graduate of Denfeld High School. She enjoyed her family, traveling, a good laugh, and the simple pleasures of life.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond F. and her parents Hugo and Henrietta Pelander.

She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Kathleen) of Chanhassen, MN., and Larry, of Duluth; three step-grandchildren, Lisa (Fernando) Quevedo, Marla Nygaard and Jennifer (Doug Mardula) Nygaard; four step-great-grandchildren, Marissa, Nicholas, Kelsey, and Kayla; her brother, Lester (Lois) Pelander of Duluth; and other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bayshore Health Center for the care they gave Myrtle and their friendship. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 130 West Superior St. Duluth, MN 55802.

VISITATION: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 23rd and will continue from 11 a.m. until the 12-noon funeral service Monday, November 24th all at the Jarvi Dowd Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Oneota Cemetery.
