MRS. ABNEY
CARROLLTON, Ga. - Mrs. Patricia Diane Abney, 73, of Carrollton died Friday, June 20, 2008 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.
Graveside services are planned for Monday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m. at Langdale Cemetery with the Revs. Rex Williams and Greg Gregory officiating.
Mrs. Abney is survived by her children, Richard L. (Lynn) Abney Jr. of Athens, Ala., Elizabeth Abney (Rex) Williams of Carrollton and Linda Abney (Bill) Whorton of Carrollton; her stepfather, Horace Gregory of Valley; a sister, Paulette Gregory Leavins of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Greg (Cathy) Gregory of Valley; seven grandchildren, Zachary Abney, Sarah Kathryn Abney, Samuel Abney, Ryan (Sarah) Williams, Alex Williams, Abigail Whorton and Emily Whorton; and great-grandchildren, Bethany, Emma, Charlotte and Judah Williams.
Born Feb. 1, 1935 in Lanett, Mrs. Abney was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Pinkard Gregory and Arnold Wallace. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where she had more than 20 years of service. Mrs.Abney was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Abney Sr. She attended First Christian Church in Carrollton.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 301 Kelly Drive, Suite #3, Peachtree, Ga., 30269 or to Tanner Hospice, P.O. Box 1136, Carrollton, Ga. 30112.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 23 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
