Lucy Baros Garcia, age 77, a resident of El Pueblo, N.M., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M.

She was born Nov. 2, 1931, in El Pueblo, N.M. to the late Max Baros and Avelina Rivera-Baros.

She was united in marriage at the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel, N.M. on Jan. 8, 1951, to the late Virgil Garcia Sr.

She moved to Pueblo, Colo., in 1951 and then moved back to El Pueblo, after her retirement in 1987 from the Colorado State Hospital in Pueblo, where she was a Psych Nurse for 34 years.

A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel. She was a mayordomo for two years at the San Antonio De Padua Church in El Pueblo, a cursillista, and taught religious education at San Miguel. She loved to horseback ride and bake.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Max and Avelina Baros; husband: Virgil Garcia, Sr. and her son: Virgil Garcia, Jr.

She is survived by her sisters: Corrine Montoya and husband Frank of Pueblo, Colo., Rose Sena and husband Chris of El Pueblo, Lupie Davis and husband Nick of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Marie Baros or El Pueblo; brothers: Max Baros, Jr. and wife Lenore of Cubero, N.M., Everett Baros and wife Rose of San Juan, N.M., Albert Baros and wife Toni and Tony Baros all of El Pueblo and Rocky Baros of Rio Rancho, N.M.; daughter-in-law: Teresa Garcia of Rio Rancho; and brother-in-law: Carlos Garcia of Sena, N.M.; numerous: nieces, nephews, god-children, other relatives, and many friends.

Rosary devotional services will be conducted this evening at 7 at the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 at the San Miguel Del Vado Church in San Miguel, with Father Thomas Kayammakal as celebrant.

Interment will follow at the El Pueblo Cemetery in El Pueblo, with the following serving as casket bearers: Kent Montoya, Leon Baros, Max Baros III, Vincent Garcia, Mark Garcia, Patrick Garcia and Ralph Sanchez. Serving as honorary bearers will be Fredrick Earnest, Jacob Earnest, Rocky Peyton, and Beau Baros.
