Frances Martin Barnes, 74, died Friday (Jan. 30, 2009) at Satilla Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. She was the daughter of the late Lee O. Martin Sr. and Sammie K. Martin.

She was retired from AmeriGas. She was president of the Waycross Woman's Club, past president of the Winona Park Homemakers and was a Hospice Satilla volunteer.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Daniel Jacob "D.J." Barnes, of Waycross; her children, Teresa Kerwin (husband Kevin), of Jacksonville, Fla., Danny Barnes (wife Judy), of Waycross, Sherri Barnes, of Seminole, Fla., and Kim Joiner (husband Scott), of Waycross; her grandchildren, Daniel Barnes (wife Jamie), Kaleigh Joiner and Wendy Manucey; and her great-grandchildren, Marcus Barnes, Hunter Manucey and Colby Manucey.

A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Music Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday night from 6 until 8.
