Opalee Bush
Opalee Bush, 78, of Parsons, died at 12:15 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2008, at her home. She had been in failing health.
She was born September 11, 1930, in Menlo Park, California, to James Martin and Mildred Amelia (McRae) Mason. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in California. In the early 1940's, she moved, with her family, to Parsons, where she had lived since. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Fred Ronald's Manufacturing Company from 1957 through 1985. In 1985, she began working at Signature Sportswear in Parsons, retiring from there in 1990.
She and Thomas J. Bush, Jr. were married in Independence, Kansas, December 24, 1945. He preceded her in death October 31, 1979.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading and working crossword puzzles.
SURVIVORS: Two Sons – Thomas Bush and his wife, Cathy Parsons, KS Steven Bush Parsons, KS Two Daughters – Linda Beasley Parsons, KS Diane Palmer and her husband, Bob Parsons, KS Seven Grandchildren Ten Great-Grandchildren Four Step-Grandchildren Thirteen Step-Great-Grandchildren Two Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one step-grandson, and one sister, Joan Bailey.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2008, at McCune Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
