The replacement stone for William has a deathdate of December 9, 1885, but an article in "Obits. and Tidbits 1850 - 1884 Franklin County, Illinois" states, "Died on the 8th day of December, 1874 of pneumonia, in Goode Township, Mr. William P. Bradley, aged 74 years. Mr. Bradley was a good citizen and a resedent of Franklin County for 20 years."
Recent DNA testing by a descendant of William Penn Bradley indicates that William may not be a son of David Robert Ewing Alexander Dunn (DREAD) Bradley and Elizabeth "Betsy" Kirby/Brazer.
"David Bradley married Elizabeth Brazier several months after the birth of William. Samuel Kerby secured the marriage bond for Elizabeth, and death records of her children Sarah (Bradley) Barton and Thomas J. Bradley state that Elizabeth's maiden name was Kirby or Curby. It is possibly that William was Elizabeth's son by a prior marriage to a Mr. Brazier, and that William used his stepfather's surname. Autosomal DNA testing supports a relationship between William's descendants and descendants of Sarah (Bradley) Barton. The connection might be only through Elizabeth, and not David."
