In loving memory of Diane Vira Lane; aka Dazzling Diane the Magician; aka Snickerdoodle the clown It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear Diane; loving mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother on October 22nd, 2008. Diane was known by all for her generosity, spirit and unconditional love. She made everyone richer by just knowing her compassion and magical energy.
Diane was born on a sunny autumn day, November 22, 1957, in San Diego. As a child, Diane enjoyed many wonderful memories with her parents, Bill and Vira Lane and siblings, Philip and Carol Lane growing up as a San Diego native. In 1983, Diane moved with her husband, Ken Wood and 2 children Jaimey and Kenny up to beautiful Lake Tahoe, where she owned and operated her own store, known as the Country Club General Store. They spent 10 wonderful years together as a family in Incline Village, until Diane's health unknowingly started to worsen.
In 1992, Diane was diagnosed with a non-viral autoimmune disease and was told she needed a Liver Transplant. This is when she moved her children back down to San Diego and became Snickerdoodle the clown. Before and after her liver transplant in 1993, Diane entertained many people with her delightful clown character and found her calling for this life; an entertainer for people of all ages.
After raising her 2 children, she found the love of magic and thusly became Dazzling Diane the Magician. During this artistic transition, Diane created her own show called, Magical Moments, which airs on public broadcast stations all over San Diego. Dazzling Diane also became the resident magician at the Corvette Diner and brought many magical moments to adults and children alike. Diane also served as the President of the local Magic club for 2 years, and an active board member every other year. Diane was also blessed with the honor to be on the cover of the International Linking Ring Magazine, which brought her immense joy and gratitude. Diane always had open arms to the community and always found time and the strength to spend a few hours bringing a smile to someone's face. Diane also worked closely with several foundations, such as the Liver, Leukemia, San Diego Blood Bank, and the Kidney foundation.
Diane suffered with many health ailments before and after her liver transplant in 1993, but maintained a positive attitude, in addition to her over powering will to live. In 2004, Diane was diagnosed with Kidney failure. Diane was on the national donor list once again in hopes to receive a third lease on life by receiving a new kidney. With the help of self meditation and self guided imagery, Diane was able to keep her health strong and avoid dialysis for her failing kidneys for many years. After 15 ½ years after her liver transplant, Diane's heath challenges grew too strong and she passed away peacefully on October 22nd 2008.
Diane is survived by her parents Buford and Vira Lane, her devoted daughter Jaimey Diane Osborne and loving son, Kenneth Alan Lanewood. Diane's brother, Phillip Lane and sister Carol Lane. Diane also had the blessed gift of 3 grandchildren; Samantha Nicole, Amanda Diane, and Dylan James.
Our precious guiding light and pillar of strength, Sweet Diane; she will forever be missed by all that knew and loved her. Her celebration of life will be held: Saturday Nov 8, 2008, 12 noon, at El Camino Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd, San Diego, CA 92121

I am at a loss to express my sorrow hearing of my niece's Diane's passing. (Brother Buford and Vira's youngest daughter). Just hearing the pain in brother's voice; I was wasted. I could use many words paying a tribute to Diane and never achieve the prefect emotional truth of expression… Two words comes to mind is "faith and courage." Courage by definition is a powerful unlimited noun strengthen by faith… She faced mortality, as we all do daily, in her case it was compounded to the degree infinity by her health's ongoing issues.
Going under the knife in 1993 a weakened near lifeless body for a liver transplant, enduring painful tissue rejection and side effects of the meds took their toll of strength and eventually her kidneys, but never her spirit…
Diane's faith, spirit and the Will of God she fought her way back bravely to achieve a lifetime of living in the fifteen years, thereafter, that God blessed her, a lifetime others would never achieve in a century…
She suffered cycles of pain and emotional swings silently more than we will ever know. The sun would rise as she filled the room, the show was on, ready are not, she was…She worked hard perfecting her skills as a entertainer developing skills of slight of hand along with her experience as a professional clown blending those insights honed into a magical evening to remembered by all at many dinner clubs and on TV.…
In addition, bringing vast acclaim from her peers, recognized by many, honored being the president of the "Linking Ring" for two years, and honored as the "Magician of the Year" for the years of 2003-2004. . During her tenure the commission was well served, All Diane's achievements she appeared they were not enough to fulfill her desire of contentment… She was proud of her recognition and acceptance and achievements as a whole, but struggled for more… There are more to come…
In her legacy, parents, siblings, two wonderful children and grandchildren and friends, she lives on… Diane's love of animals, unparalleled.
The earthy curtain has fallen for Diane as she steps on the stage of God's Awesome Glory… May we accept our destiny as bravely as she did, in Faith of God…
