Shirley Jean Allen, 73, of Festus, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, Mo.
She was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Perry County, daughter of Peter Jacob and Hettie Mae Kistner Crites. She and Joe Lynn Allen were married Jan. 24, 1953. He died March 4, 2006.
Allen had worked in the fitting room at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau and was also a forklift operator at Procter & Gamble, retiring in 2001. She was a member of Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church. Allen moved to Festus in 2005 from Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Allen of Hillsboro, Mo., Oscar Allen of Festus; a daughter, Dianna Stockman of DeSoto, Mo.; a brother, Lee Crites of Jackson; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to service time Thursday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pringle officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
