Robert A Adkins, 76, Gilmer, died the afternoon of aug, 14 at the Gladewater Municipal Hospital after a short illness. Born in Upshur county Dec. 1, 1897 he had been a lifetime resident of Upshur County. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pine Acres Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs Valta Adkins, Gilmer; a son, Charles Adkins, Gilmer; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Rawlings, Gilmer, Mrs Hulene Womack, Fort Worth; one brother, Earl Adkins, East Mountain; 7 grand children and 7 great grandchildren.
Services were held Friday morning at Croley chapel with Rev. Paul Knight and Rev Wayne McKay officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbeares were Albert Loden, Bert Loden, Ellis Loden, Jimmy Adkins, Billy Joe Adkins, Odie Bee Mayfield.
