Dellver "Del" Burrer was born December 3, 1930 to Jacob and Leah (Preszler) Burrer on a farm 18 miles northeast of Eureka, SD. Del farmed with his oldest brother, Harry, raising crops, horses and cattle. He eapecially looked forward to spring planting and harvest. Del and Harry were among the first custom combiners taking two machines South and following the harvest North.

Del married Eileen Hoff on March 17, 1957 at Eureka. They lived by Eureka until September 2000, when they moved to Aberdeen, SD.

Del bred and raised Appaloosa horses for more than twenty years. Raising, training and showing the best of the offspring each year at horse shows occupied much of his time. He also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing, watching baseball and going to car shows. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

Del was a member of the First Reformed Church of Aberdeen and formerly Eureka's Reformed Church. He was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club and was on the Board of Directors of the FHA for several years.

Del died Sept.26, 2003 in Aberdeen, SD. Services will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at First Reformed Church, Aberdeen, SD. Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery, Eureka, SD.

Survivors include his wife Eileen, son Mike (Kim) Burrer, granddaughter Jami and grandson Colin, daughters Kathy (Ray) Restow and Connie Burrer, sisters Velma (Raymond) Doerr, Mabel (Bernard) Jacob and Virginia Rohrbach.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob & Leah Burrer, son Robert Burrer, brothers Harry and Elmer.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be all Del's grandchildren, neighbors, and the nurses at Aberdeen Dialysis Center.

Casket Bearers will be Curtis Hoff, Melvin Kolb, Mark Morlock, Larry Mettler, Mike Hottman and Rodney Huff.
