Ill since last February 8, David H. Whitcomb, local business man, died at his home at 133 W. Mechanic St. Monday night at 8 o'clock. He was 63 years of age.

Mr. Whitcomb was born in Shelbyville on June 28, 1887, and was the son of Harry H. and Martha Virginia (Johnson) Whitcomb. He graduated from DePauw University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, and served for six years as a member of the university's board of trustees.

He first became associated with his father in operation of the Shelbyville Trust Company and served as secretary-treasurer of the firm until it closed. For the past 15 years he had operated a retail liquor store on N. Harrison St.

On October 15, 1914, he was married to Blanche McDaniel who survives with three children, Harry H. Whitcomb at home, Mrs. Budd G. Brown of Columbia, Mo., and Mrs. Norman C. Forster of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Also surviving are four grandchildren.

Mr. Whitcomb was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Elks lodge and a past Rotarian.

Funeral services, in charge of the Ewing Mortuary, were held at the late home Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. N. I. Schoolfield officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends called at the residence after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
