She was born April 27, 1981, at St. Louis county, one of three children of Daniel J. Poertner and Penny Lee Barnes.
Miss Barnes-Poertner attended St. Clair High School.
She was an avid reader and liked music and dancing.
Miss Barnes-Poertner was preceded in death by her grandmother, Connie Poertner; great-grandparents, Frances and August Poertner; grandfather, Harry Barnes; and other relatives, Rose Mary and Frank Everhart; and Mary, Clarence and Ralph Poertner.
She is survived by her parents; two brothers, Jacob Lee and Danny Joe Poertner, St. Clair; grandfather, Floyd Poertner, Pacific; grandmother, Juanita Povolish, St. Clair; great-grandmother, Venita Brown, Cedar Hill; two aunts, Brenda McUbbin, Potosi, and Gloria Bowen, Indiana; one uncle, Floyd Poertner Jr., Allenton; one great-uncle, Armordo Valespine; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, at Bell Funeral Home, Pacific, with Rev. Leonard Rogers, Eureka, officiating. Interment was in the family plot at Pacific City Cemetery.
