Jacquelyn Blalock Algayer
(March 18, 1927 - October 9, 2008)

Jacquelyn Blalock Algayer of Panama City Beach, FL died October 9, 2008 at the age of 81. Graveside services will be held at the Columbia Alabama Cemetery on Wednesday, October 15 at 1 p.m. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holly Algayer, her father, John Blalock, and her mother, Jewel Lewis Blalock McLendon. Before moving to Florida, she and her husband Holly resided in Hadden Heights, New Jersey. There she was active in community affairs, and was a member of the Methodist Church. Jacquelyn was on an advisory committee for the Juvenile Detention Center, working with Governor's Commission of Children's Services. She worked directly with then Governor Thomas H. Kean of New Jersey on juvenile issues. She was a member of the Writers Guild. She wrote a column for the Philadelphia newspaper and several of her short stories were published in Teen Magazine. In addition to her writing, she also modeled for several magazines. She is survived by her loving aunt; Alice McEntyre of Dothan, AL, numerous cousins, and her dear friend and caregiver Tricia Mathews of Youngstown, FL. The family would like to thank Dr. Dent, Dr. Hurst, and Covenant Hospice of Bay County, Florida for the unending love and attention Jacquelyn received from them. In lieu of flowers she request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
