Howard Herman Wenck was born March 11, 1921, at Andover, South Dakota, the son of Herman and Lena (Wolkman) Wenck. He attended school at Andover and, at the age of 16, began to work on the family farm. Howard was united in marriage on October 27, 1946, at Corona, South Dakota, with Annette Sofhia Bohlen. Following their wedding, they lived at Andover before moving to a farm east of Corona. They resided there for six years, then moved to a farm southwest of Wilmot, South Dakota, for six years. They moved into Corona in 1961, and later to Milbank. Howard began working for Dakota Granite in 1961, and retired in 1984. Annette died on July 10, 1985.

Howard was married to Rosine A. (Dahl) Rieck on September 27, 1986, at Milbank. After his retirement, Howard continued to work as a monument salesman and provided cemetery and grave restoration and repair. He joined American Lutheran Church in 1994, but came to us with a 34 year history of teaching Sunday School. He enjoyed doing children's sermons in our worship services. He was an active member of Community Development for the city of Corona, and a volunteer fireman in Corona.
