Ray Louis Ramsey, Sr.

Services for Ray Louis Ramsey, Sr. age 83 of Lexington will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Tanglewood Baptist Church with Johnny Menges and Charles Nicholson. Burial in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery at Tanglewood.
Visitation, 4PM to 9PM Friday in the Lexington funeral home.
Ray was born March 16, 1925 in Waller, Texas to Grady Louis and Erma Laraine (Mathis) Ramsey. He was one of eight children.
Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Seaman First Class. He was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church and served as a Deacon.
On February 19, 1944 he and Dorothy Fay Gates were married in Corpus Christi. They have lived in Lexington the past 30 years. Ray had worked as a stationary engineer of Schumberger Oil Services.
Ray passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home. He was preceded in death by his sons, Jack Ramsey and Lyndon Ramsey; His parents; Brother, Alvis Ramsey; Sisters, Irene Hunold and Ruth Holmes; Great grandchildren, Erin Lynn Ramsey and Colton Mauldin.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Ramsey. Four sons, Ray L. Ramsey, Jr. and wife Beverly of Lexington; Doug Ramsey, Sr. and wife Donna of Verden, Oklahoma; Brady Ramsey of Lexington; Tim Ramsey, Sr. and wife Peg of Lexington. Brothers, Louis Ramsey of Liberty and Angel Ramsey of Shreveport, Louisiana. Sisters, Viola Scallons of Woodlands and Lorene Oakley of Schulenburg, Texas. 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
