Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Jul 26 2004 - Kenneth Wayne Garey, 57, Gastonia, died July 1, 2004, at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Clinton, son of Elvin and Martha Garey, both of Oklahoma City. Graveside services were Tuesday, at Evergreen Cemetery, Belmont. Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Garey retired from the United States, Coast Guard September 1, 1986, and worked for Outdoor Lifestyles in Stanley. He graduated from Sherwood High School in Urich, from City College in Chicago, Illinois, and Gaston College in Dallas, North Carolina. While in the Coast Guard he was the recipient of multiple service decorations and held numerous technical degrees. He was a member of Urich Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife Mildred Sudduth Garey; two sons, Kenney Garey of Gastonia and Dennis Garey of Kings Mountain; a sister, Joyce Thrower of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Megan Garey of Kings Mountain; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis G. Garey.
