Beissel was a well known and respected farmer in his community and because it is reported he was enjoying good health, no reason can be ascribed for his act. He had played with his five small children a short time before. His wife, who was outside the home and engaged in the family washing, was attracted to the house by the shot and found her husband lying on the couch.
He is survived by his wife, five children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Beissel and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon. Rev. Elias Noll, pastor of Himmel's Reformed Church will officate and interment made in the cemetery adjoining that church.
