Mildred A. Harris, age 78, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away September 18, 2008 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny, FL. Mildred was born July 22, 1930 in Wilmington, NC to the late William J. and Stella Conroy Auld. Mildred lived in Wilmington, NC before moving to Jacksonville in 1960. She was a member of San Jose Baptist Church. Mildred loved her family, genealogy, cats, African Violets, Ferns and enjoyed taking care of her plants. She is predeceased by her sister; Elizabeth Marion Smith and two brothers; James and Edward T. Auld. Family members include her husband of 59 years: Paul Lewis Harris of Jacksonville, FL; her son: Kevin (Gloria) D. Harris of Jacksonville, FL,; her brother: William C. Auld of Raleigh, NC and four grandchildren: Sharon Harris (J.T.) Lee, Kevin B. Harris, Megan B. Harris, and Kristen L. Harris; two great-grandchildren: Jackson T. Lee and Hannah G. Lee. A Memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 2:30 pm at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny, FL. Final internment will be at Stoney Fork Baptist Church in Mt. Gilead, NC. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL

Mildred was a proud graduate of New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC, Class of 1948. She married Paul Lewis Harris on April 16, 1949. Mildred worked in a laundry and then for Macmillan and Cameron Companies in Wilmington. In Jacksonville, Florida she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Montgomery Ward Company and Provident Insurance Company. She enjoyed a long retirement life with her husband and family. God blessed me by having her as my Mama.
As of June 2013 Mildred has an additional great granddaughter Alice Belle Harris.
