She attended Gosport High School, performed an independent study at Indiana University in theology, and was co-pastor with her late husband, Bishop Robert E. Anderson, at the Stinesville Pentecostal Church for forty years. Dorcas enjoyed the ocean, playing the piano, cooking, and loving and caring for her grandchildren.
Dorcas was the mother of six children, Frank M. (Rosa) Anderson of Camby, Connie L. (Willie) Smith of Solsberry, James R. Anderson of Stinesville, Richard E. (Christine) Anderson of Indianapolis, and Mary (Fred) Walls of Gosport. She had 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is survived by two sisters, Joyce Keith of Mooresville and Rosalee Williams of Monrovia. She was preceded in death by her son Timothy G. Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at the Stinesville Pentecostal Church on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Willie C. Smith and Pastor Richard Anderson officiating. Burial is to follow at Chambersville Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday September 5, 2008, until the time of service at the church. Chandler Funeral Home in Ellettsville is in charge of arrangements.
