Born at St. Joseph Hospital, Birth certificate St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. Was Baptized by Monsignor J. J. O'Neill at the St. Joseph Cathedral. She then attended Sacred Heart Convent, St. Joseph, Mo. in 1928, then 4 years at the St. Joseph Cathedral Parochial school, graduated 1936. Attended Sacred Heart High School ‘til 1938. Then Central High School. Joined Delta Kappa Gamma in 1937. Met Blair Carmichael in September of 1938. Graduated Central High in 1940. Attended St. Joseph Junior College 1940/1942 and Kansas University, Lawrence, Kansas 1942/1944, there she became an Alpha Chi Omega and was engaged to Blair Xavier Carmichael. Graduated with an B.A. with a major in Zoology and a minor in Microbiology. During World War II, joined the U.S. Navy as a WAVE in Oct. 1944, where she served as a Lab Tech at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Newport R.I. during World War II as Hospital Assistant First Class. Service #766-33-55 Honorable Discharge April 1946.
Married Blair Xavier Carmichael in St. Joseph, Missouri June 22, 1946, Buchanan County, Missouri. Started work at St. Joseph, State Hospital 1947/48. They then moved to Fulton, Missouri where she worked as a Lab technician then Laboratory Supervisor for the Fulton State Hospital. Retired August 1986. Active in Fulton, Missouri in a local bridge club, Ecumenical Ministries, Fulton Job Bank and the Daughters of the American Revolution. DAR #719566 December 05, 1988
In 2004, moved to Napa California with her son Blair B. and his wife Elizabeth A.K. Carmichael. Passed away from cerebral accident (Stroke) on the morning of October 12, 2007 at Queen of the Valley Hospital, Napa, California. Was cremated and interred at Mount Olivet cemetery in St. Joseph, Mo. with her husband Blair in a dual military honors ceremony at the Hopkins family plot.
