Dixie Jean Barber, 72, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away February 21, 1994.

She filled our lives with love and good times, she will be missed and remembered by all of us.She was born January 29, 1922 in Norcatur, Kansas, a daughter of Walter Thomas and Anna Roe Thomas. She graduated from Lincoln High School where she loved drama and sports. She married Francis Lynn Barber, August 3, 1940. They moved to Caracas, Venezuela in 1948, where they resided for ten years. Upon returning to Salt Lake, she worked as a waitress at Demmans Cafe for many years. For the past 32 years they have lived in Salt Lake City. Dixie loved life and enjoyed going horseback riding in the foothills. She loved going to the cabin above Cedar City, spending many fun filled weeks there each summer. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren played an important role in her life as she was there to cheer them on as they participated in many sports.

Survived by husband, Francis Lynn Barber, Salt Lake; two daughters, Sue Pease, Bountiful; Anna Leigh Barber, Salt Lake; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Velma Figueroa, California; Ada Gentry, Salt Lake City; Beth Haley, Nevada; Kay Young, Idaho; brother, Bruce Thomas, California. Preceded in death by daughter, Velma Lynn; brothers, Loyal Thomas, Allen Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 11 a.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends and family may call Thursday, 7-8 p.m., and Friday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Larkin Sunset Lawn
