Brandi Le' Chavez was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette. She graduated from Teurlings Catholic High School in 2004. She was in her fourth year of college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She was a parishioner of St. Leo Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Survivors include her mother, Shannon Nichol of Lafayette; her father, Shannon Chavez and his wife, Sherry, of Carencro; three brothers, Joseph Chavez, Chayse Chavez, and Trey Chavez, all of Carencro; one sister, Toni Nichol of Lafayette; maternal grandmother, Judy Gonzales and her husband, Michael, of Citrus Heights, CA; paternal grandmother, Cheryl Harper of Charenton; paternal grandfather, Abel Chavez and his wife, Paula, of Lafayette; three uncles, Christopher Chavez, Lance Chavez, and Shane Nichol; two aunts, her nana, Vanessa Chavez and Simone Olivier; and her best friend, her dog, Wednesday.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Anthony Nichol.
