She was in her fourth year of college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. She was a parishioner of St. Leo Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Survivors include her mother, Shannon Nichol of Lafayette; her father, Shannon Chavez and his wife, Sherry, of Carencro; three brothers, Joseph Chavez, Chayse Chavez, and Trey Chavez, all of Carencro; one sister, Toni Nichol of Lafayette; maternal grandmother, Judy Gonzales and her husband, Michael, of Citrus Heights, CA; paternal grandmother, Cheryl Harper of Charenton; paternal grandfather, Abel Chavez and his wife, Paula, of Lafayette; three uncles, Christopher Chavez, Lance Chavez, and Shane Nichol; two aunts, her nana, Vanessa Chavez and Simone Olivier; and her best friend, her dog, Wednesday.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Anthony Nichol.
