Mrs. Leslie Burkhart, 65 of Springfield, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, in Burge Protestant Hospital after an illness of a year. Mrs. Burkhart, a native of Christian County, had lived in Springfield the past 42 years. She was a former Christian County school teacher; having taught at Lead Hill and Old Boston schools. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Southside Baptist Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Fred Neldy officiating. Burial was under direction of Ayre-Goodwin. Survivors include her husband, Leslie; a daughter, Mrs. Geneva Andrus, Monett; and a granddaughter, Miss Saundra Sue Carroll, Springfield who was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Burkhart.
