Obituary from Melancon Funeral Home:

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Shirley A. "Bruce" Broussard, age 75, who passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Kaitlin Broussard and Blake Broussard. Giftbearers will be Brannon Broussard, Joshua Broussard and Mya Broussard.

Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Here I Am Lord, One Bread One Body, Yahweh is my Shepherd, You will Always be a Child in my Eyes, and On Eagle's Wings.

Mr. Broussard was a native of Lafayette and lived most of his life in Carencro. He was previously employed with Floyd Huval Air Conditioning, Odelo Offshore Drilling Company, Huval Bakery, Dean and Wallace Begnaud Dairy, Inc., and Jefferson Lake Sulphur Co. He was also owner and operator of Bruce's Air Conditioning. He was a parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church in Carencro. Mr. Broussard volunteered his time with Carencro Youth Organization by driving to Steubenville, OH.

Survivors include two sons, Geary Broussard and his wife, Pam, of Carencro, and Kenneth Broussard of Lafayette; three daughters, Vickie Denais and her husband, Robert, and Susan Broussard, all of Church Point, and Denise Broussard and her husband, Wade, of Lafayette; two brothers, Willis Broussard and his wife, Grace, of Sulphur and Nelson Paul Broussard and his wife, Helen, of Lafayette; two sisters, Birdie Bourque, and Theresa Duhon and her husband, Wilven, all of Lafayette; ten grandchildren, Jared Broussard, David Broussard, Blake Broussard, Kaitlin Broussard, Sean Broussard, Larry Denais, Jacob Hess, Brannon Broussard, Joshua Broussard, and Mya Broussard; and one great grandchild, Dylan Denais.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Daisy Dean Guidry Broussard; his parents, Willie Broussard and his mother, the former Bertha Lanerie, both natives of Lafayette Parish; three brothers, Ashby Broussard, Howard Broussard, and Paul Broussard; and two sisters, Hazel David and Beverly Thompson.
