Augusta Drews Banik was born in the village of Cegielnia, Posen, Germany. Augusta was the daughter of Johann Drews and Justine Mueske. She married August Banik on January 10, 1884 in a civil service in Rogowo, Posen, Germany and they came to Texas shortly after their marriage. The marriage record states that Augusta's parents had both died prior to 1884 in Cegielnia, Posen.
August and Augusta Banik lived in Washington and Fayette Counties before moving to Falls County, Texas. Around the turn of the century, they had settled in McLennan County. On November 1, 1904, August Banik purchased 96-acres from J. H. Schroeder in the Ross Community of McLennan County.
They were the parents of 10 children; one son died in infancy.

OBITUARY FROM THE WEST NEWS: Mrs. Augusta Banik, Gerald Citizen, Dies

Mrs. Augusta Banik, longtime resident of the Gerald section, died at her home there on last Friday, April 13, 1934. She was the wife of August Banik of that community.
Funeral services were held from the residence at 2:00 p.m. and at the Gerald Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14th, with Rev. A. Greeb officiating. Interment was in the Gerald Cemetery. Pall-bearers were Robert Baese, Reinhold Baese, William Kophal, Ernest Heitmiller, Fred Schuetz and George Schuetz.
Survivors are: her husband, August Banik; four daughters, Mrs. Joe Rolke of Dayton, Texas, Mrs. Hulda Bluhm of West, Mrs. Ludwig Kablitz of Pennsylvania and Mrs. Albert Kern of Fort Worth; five sons, Ernest, Albert, Herman, Fred, and Willie Banik, all of near Gerald.
*Note: Augusta was also survived by her brother, Gustav H. Drews of Gerald.
