Services for Doug Ryburn will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Brownfield First Baptist Church. Doug passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007, in Brownfield.

He was born July 23, 1932 in Binger, Oklahoma, to William and Edna Ryburn. He married Waneta Brown on May 12, 1951. They moved to Brownfield in 1966 and owned the Fina Truck Stop from 1966 until 1986. He also owned Ryburn's Gift Shop from 1972 until 1974, Ryburn's Fina Station #2 and Ryburn's Muffler Shop until 1997, and Ryburn's Furniture Store from 1987 until 1990.

Doug was a member of the Chamber of Commerce from 1966-1997, where he served 4 years on the Board of Directors, 2 terms on the City Council, and served as Mayor Pro-Tem.

In 1990 he was elected County Judge. He was also Terry County Citizen of the Year in 1999. He was the Chairman of the Board of S.P.A.G. and a board member for MHMR. He was also an elder of the Brownfield First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Waneta Ryburn of Brownfield, his son, Eddie Ryburn of Brownfield, 2 Daughters; Debra Adkins of Downy, California, and Patti Law of Amarillo, 3 Brothers; Robert Ryburn of Garland, Leroy Ryburn of Denver, and Glenn Ryburn of Denver, 3 Sisters; Mary Lou Matthews of Modesto, California, Gladys Wilson of Oklahoma City, and Shirley LaMons of Rockport, 6 Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Grandchild.

Active Pallbearers are: Don Robertson, Jerry Johnson, Joe Masso, Alan Bayer, Jessie Hartman, and Mike Bennett. Honorary Pallbearers are: Aubrey Cox, Rayford Carter, Tommy McCoy, David Bell, and Dale Andrews.
