The body was cremated. there will be a private entombment in Woodland Crematory Des Moines.
Mr. Kauffman was born in Des Moines . He had worked in the office of Strategic Service for the US Dept of Defense.
Survivors include his wife, Diana D; a son Ray Barr Kauffman of Chesapeake VA; a daughter Anna C. Kauffman of Milwaukee Wisconsin; and a grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Historical Museum Foundation in Des Moines.
