Alex Hawkins was born in Flint District, Cherokee Nation Indian Territory to Lewis Hawkins and Nancy.
He married Eve Ummerteskee and to this union was born two children Josiah and Lucy.
Alex's granddaughter Elizabeth reports Alex was a medicne man and many neighbors and friends came to him for advice on planting or personal matters. Elizabeth has in her possession some of the items he used in his medicine. He also taught his grandson Alex the "old ways". Alex used this information to present programs for school children and tell them the story of his people.
