Mr. George Washington Oglesby, age 89, of Atkins died Wednesday, December 18,
1974, at a Russellville Nursing home. Born in Scottsville, Mr. Oglesby was a son
of the late George and Laura Hale Oglesby. He was a retired farmer and a
Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtie Green Oglesby; 4 daughters, Mrs. Otto
Moss and Mrs. Charlestine Ryals both of Atkins, Mrs. Nell Chambers of Pasadena,
Texas, and Mrs. Loyd Millwood of Plainview; 11 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, at the New Bethel
Baptist Church with Rev. Thorpe Lee officiating. Interment followed in New
Bethel Cemetery. Active casket bearers were Mr. Oglesby's grandsons. Services
were in care of the Cornwell Funeral Service.
