OBITUARIES (Obit courtesy of Linda Gerdes)
MARGARET J. ANDERSON
Margaret J. Anderson was born in Ohio June 27, 1847, and died Januray 24, 1906,. aged 58 years, 76 months and 27 days. She was the oldest child of Rev. J. W. and Rebecca Wharton. She came to Scotland county, Mo., when young, residing there until 1865, when she with her parents moved to Birmingham, Iowa. She was married to Levi Anderson, March 15, 1866, moving to their farm in Lick Creek township in April of the same year, where they have resided ever since. Eight children were born to this union. She leaves a husband and six children (four sons and two daughters) also a sister and two brothers to mourn their loss, the sister and brothers residing in California. The husband and children were all at her bedside at her death. She was converted and joined the M. E. church when quite young, uniting with the F. M. church in 1900. She led a faithful and devoted christian life, ever exemplifying the exalted truth and teaching of her Lord and Master. She was a sufferer more or less for over two years but her patience was greater then her suffering and the Divine Grace equal to her need. In her life she was always kind and good, so self forgetful and thoughtful of others. To know her was to love her. As she was devoted to the work of the Master her affections were placed on things above. We realize that a dear loving wife and mother has gone from us but feel that our loss is her gain. She has been translated to the mansions above. The funeral was from the residence at 10 a.m. January 26, Rev. Vincent preaching, the burial being in Birmingham cemetery
