Our beloved mother, grandmother & great-grandmother Frances Alcorn Kehrer, 86, passed away on June 19, 2004 in Sunnyvale, California.
Born Frances Alcorn in Merced in 1917 to Jo Howard & Floy Alcorn, Frances was raised in Merced & graduated in 1935 from Merced High School. She attended Fresno State College before working as a stenographer for the California State Legislature. In 1945, she married Kenneth Kehrer, a dashing Army Air Corps Officer stationed at Merced Army Air Field & then she followed him throughout his career with the Air Force. Following his retirement from the military in 1965, the Kehrer's returned to Merced where Frances worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Griswold & Barrett. In 1983, the Kehrer's moved from Merced to Hayden Lake, Idaho where they lived until July of 2000 when they moved to San Jose to be near family. Throughout her life, Frances enjoyed collecting antiques & playing mah jong. She was a member of the Eastern Star & the Merced County Historical Society. She was particularly proud of her three grandchildren.
Frances is survived by her daughter Jo Ann Snell of Sunnyvale, son Ken Kehrer, Jr., & wife Jere of Teasdale, Utah, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken in 2001.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, June 28, 2004 at Merced Cemetery District.
Services are under the direction of Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced.
