Ann Eliza Rosecrans (maiden name Hegeman) was the wife of Union Army Major General William S. Rosecrans. Gen. Rosecrans is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but Mrs. Rosecrans is buried in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Washington, D.C. She is buried about 50 paces in one direction from Mary Surratt, who was executed for her participation in the Lincoln assassination conspiracy, and about 50 paces in another direction from Orlando Caruana, a Civil War recipient of the Medal of Honor.
