FUNERAL RITES FOR MRS. BUNTING TO BE SUNDAY
Services for Margreta Parkin Bunting, who passed away Friday will be held Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 o'clock from the Bunting home, 203 4th Ave., N.W. The Rev. Eldred D. Murdoch of Christ church, Mandan, will officiate. In the event his expected return to the city should be delayed, the Rev. A.E. Smith of St. George's church, Bismark, will conduct the rites.
The body was taken from the Kennelly Funeral Parlors to the home Friday Evening.
Pallbearers for the services will be C. A. Farrell, Peter Sagmiller, Frank Renner, Dr. H.L. Deibert, J.R. Fitzsimmons and W. J. Sullivan. The honorary list includes Lee Nichols and Dr. M. W. Roan, Bismark; Henry and Thomas Price and Martin Husfloen Price; J.L. Bowers, Dr. H.A. Wheeler, A.E. Craychee, O.V. Lindelow, H.S. Russell, J.I. Rovig and H. I. Lawrence, all of Mandan. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in the family plot.
Mrs. Bunting, 73, who had been partially invalided since she suffered a stroke 12 years ago, became seriously ill six weeks ago and had been confined to her home since that time.
The eldest of three daughters and one son of the late Walter S. Parkin, rancher and cattleman of an earlier era, and Lucy Whittlesey Parkin, Margreta Parkin was born in Atwater, Ohio, July 28, 1878 and came to Mandan with her parents in 1998. She was educated in the schools in Alliance, Ohio.
After her marriage to Dr. F.E. Bunting April 30, 1902, Mrs. Bunting patterned her life to the professional career of her physician husband, serving as his office assistant and accompanying him on calls in the large rural territory he served. As the years of Dr. Bunting's professional life in the community spanned a period from pioneer days of undeveloped roads and horse and buggy travel, to the present era of well-developed highways and high powered cars, she shared with her husband the arduous trips to remote rural sections and assisted him in tending the ill. These calls often meant spending the night and sometimes longer periods in isolated farm homes.
Like her late husband, Mrs. Bunting was fond of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and was herself an expert with the rifle.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Chas D. (Ruth) Cooley, the only immediate surviving member of the Parkin family; two stepchildren, John Bunting, Wilmington, Calif. and Mrs. William E. (Rhea) Adams, Hamilton, Ohio; two nephews, Walter W. Parkin, Glendale, Calif., and James P. Noakes, Mandan, and presently serving in the armed forces in Korea; and a niece, Joyce Cooley, Mandan. Dr. Bunting passed away in July 1947. A brother Sydney E. Parkin, and sister, Helen Parkin Noakes, are deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bunting came to Mandan from their California home about three weeks ago to be with Mrs. Bunting during her illness and were at her bedside when death came. Mr. and Mrs. Adams will arrive by plane Sunday morning to attend the services.
