Major Joseph Crowson was shot in the escape at the Eastham Unit in Weldon Texas by Raymond Hamilton, Joe Palmer, Henry Methvin. Bonnie and Clyde, aided by Hilton Bybee hid a pistol in a pre determined spot and waited in a car nearby. Crowson with fellow guard Olin Bozeman were both shot in the escape, Bozeman wounded in the hip, Crowson shot pointblank in the stomach. Bozeman recovered but Crowson developed pneumonia and died.Major Joseph Crowson was a Corrections Officer for the State of Texas, at the Eastham Unit Facility, which is an extension of the Huntsville State Prison. Located in Lovelady, Texas, near Huntsville. He died in the line of duty at age 33. Two members of the "Bonnie and Clyde" gang, were making a daring escape, Bonnie and clyde had smuggled weapons inside to their cronies, as they waited outside and stood watch. Major Crowson rode up on horse and they opened fire on him with Machine Guns. Bonnie and Clyde were responible for the murders of Law Enforcement Officials in four States-Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas, between 1932-1934. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were ambushed by a task force of Texas and Louisiana Officers in Louisiana, shot multiple times and killed. The two prison escapees who murdered Major Crowson were executed for their crime, one year after the incident.
