A H Cawthon Dies
Albert H. Cawthon aged 68 years died at his home on last Sunday morning at 4 o'clock following an illness of several months duration. Funeral services and interment were at the Midway cemetery north of Delhi Sunday afternoon. Rev. Otis Spinks of Newellton Methodist Church said the solemn service, assisted by Rev. W. M. Pomeroy of Delhi Methodist Church.
Mr. Cawthon was born in West Carroll parish near the old town of Floyd and removed to Richland parish 37 years ago, where he married Miss Laura Leggitt, who survives him. No children were born to the union. He is survived by one brother, Tom Cawthon, of Mitchiner.
Few men have enjoyed the esteem and respect in their communities such as was the privilege of Mr. Cawthon, and deservingly so. He was one of the leaders in the community, a member of the Methodist Church, and interested in every movement for the advancement of his section of the parish. He leaves vacant a place which will be hard to fill.
The large crowd of citizens who attended the funeral Sunday afternoon attested the love and high regard in which he was held by a legion of friends.
The Beacon-News offers its sympathy to the bereaved widow, brother and other members of the sorrowing family.
