Funeral services for Roger Dale Parker, 57, of Simpson, LA were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, in the chapel of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville, LA with the Revs. Gil Arthur and Terry Adams officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends was held from 4-9 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2003 and from 8 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial followed in Welcome Cemetery in Simpson.

Roger was born Tuesday, May 28, 1946 to Dwayne O. and Claudia Mae McNeely Parker and passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 in his residence in Simpson, LA.

He was a self-employed floor installer for the past 30 years and was well-known in the area for the excellent tradesman he was. He was a certified Chevrolet technician and worked as a mechanic before becoming a floor installer. Scogin Auto Parts in Leesville hired Roger as their first salesman and he later became their first manager. He was also a ticket agent at Continental Trailways Bus station in Leesville. Roger was an avid hunter and taught many of his nephews and friends how to hunt. His family and the woods he traveled as a boy were his life.

Preceding Roger in death are his father and sister, Carol Parker Simmons, both of Simpson, LA.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jeanie Parker, of Simpson; four daughters, Melody Woodham of Simpson, Kim Holton of Anacoco, LA, Renee Marsalise of Slagle, LA and Gena Adams of Simpson; his mother, Claudia Mae Parker of Simpson; three brothers, Vernon Parker and Royce Parker, both of Simpson and Dwight Parker of Lumberton, Texas; two sisters, Sharon Kay Peachey of Millville, NJ, and Pamela Joy King of Simpson; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
