When ELIZABETH MARILLA SMITH was born on October 5, 1912, in Biddeford, Maine, her father, THOMAS, was 46, and her mother, EVA, was 38. As a young teenage in Maine, ELIZABETH met and fell in love with ROBERT E. HENRY, a young sailor from Texas. They were married on July 8, 1929, in Lynn, Massachusetts. They had two children during their tragically brief marriage. Three days after giving birth to her daughter, ELIZABETH died as a young mother on February 3, 1932, in Lynn, Massachusetts, at the age of 19, and was buried* in the Smith family plot at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, Maine.

* Possibly / probably held in the Receiving Vault at Laurel Hill until burial was possible. Her grave in the Smith Family Plot at 1173 Laurel Avenue was unmarked until 1977 when her 45-year-old daughter [who grew up in Texas] visited her grave for the very first time, and purchased a tombstone for her young Mother's grave.
