TEWKSBURY — Helen Marie (Wickson) Baggs, 85, an active senior in the community, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of the late Frank H. Baggs, who died in 1996.

She was born in Winthrop, June 29, 1922, a daughter of the late John H. and Mary C. (Hancock) Wickson. She was raised in Winthrop, and graduated Winthrop High School. Mrs. Baggs was described by her family as an avid reader, and in later years a frequent and active visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Center. She was also described as a loving woman, who had devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank H. Baggs Jr. and his wife Pamela (Nason) of Newburyport; five daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy A. MacLeod and her husband Robert of Billerica, Susan E. Connolly and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, Mary Kay Rauseo and her husband Robert of Tewksbury, and Jane P. Bradley and her husband Thomas also of Tewksbury, Pamela J. Santa Fe and her husband Joseph of Sandown, N.H.; one brother, John Wickson and his wife Sunny of Tewksbury; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Judith E. Sheeley and mother-in-law of the late Frank Sheeley, sister of the late Emma Pennell, Charlotte Beatrice, Catherine Terry and Ruth Glover.

ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held Friday, June 20 at 9 a.m. from the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of Dewey and Main Streets (Rte 38) Tewksbury Center, phone (800 or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, Treble Cove Road, North Billerica. Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Friends of the Elderly, Building Fund,175 Chandler St., Tewksbury or the Friends of the Library, 300 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
