Son of Calvin and Eliza (Atkins) Aborn. Early in life the family moved to Independence, Iowa. He was one of the pioneers, riding across the country on horseback to Smith County, Kansas. On April 3 1877 in East Beaver Township, Kansas he was united in marriage to Nellie Deborah Grover.
William was the father of six children, one son, and five daughters; two of the daughters dying in infancy. He was a kind husband, a good father, honest and upright in all his dealings with others.
