03/01/2008 BERTHA M. BROWN WILLISTON - Bertha (Pepin) Brown, 73, wife of Harley G. Brown Sr. of Williston, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Burlington on July 29, 1934, the daughter of the late Alfred and Rose (Benoit) Pepin. She was a devoted wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bertha was a foster parent for over 30 years and touched many children's lives. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Harley G. Brown Sr.; and their five children, Arminda Brown, Harley Brown Jr., Esq, and his wife Wanda, Cynthia Miles and her husband James, Donna Provost and her husband Tracy, and Timothy Brown and his wife Nancy. She was predeceased by her son Michael Brown. Bertha is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Bertha enjoyed bingo, the ocean, and dancing. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. The family extends a special thank you to Cindy LaFrance for the wonderful care given to Bertha; her daughter Donna Provost for the extra mile; and Hospice, the VNA, and Dr. Dowary and staff for their care and compassion. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at noon in the Ready Funeral Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington. Burial will be in the spring at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Richmond. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ready Funeral & Cremation Service South Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions in Bertha's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association Vermont Affiliate, 1 Kennedy Drive, Suite L8, South Burlington, VT 05403.
