Born in Kansas City, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Zelda Irene Parker West. Before moving to Prosperity, she and her family had resided for a number of years in Brunswick County, North Carolina, where she had worked as a federally and state-licensed volunteer wildlife rehabilitator. Cathy was a very generous, loyal, caring person with a spontaneous, robust sense of humor, who loved life and had a special way with both animals and people. She especially loved all her pets and her five-year-old granddaughter, Serena, whom she was teaching how to care for rabbits.
Surviving are her husband, Charles ("Chuck") Creech; a son, Mike Williams of Tampa, FL; daughters, Michelle Mezrah of Tampa, FL, Sherry Creech and Melaina Creech, both of Newberry; a brother, Steve West of Memphis, TN; and five grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends was held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry, South Carolina.
Cause of death: Myocardial infarction (heart attack).
