Mrs. Eliza Davis Bennett, daughter of Catherine and Lloyd Davis, was born October 8, 1863, in Appanoose county, Iowa, and departed this life January 12, 1942. She was united in marriage to Daniel C. Bennett in 1882, and spent her entire life in or near her present home in Independence Township.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Mary Swan, of Plano; a son, Earl, of near Promise City; one son George having preceded her in death. Her husband passed away January 5, 1938. She leaves two brothers, Landon Davis of near Promise City, and John Davis of Plano; one sister, Anna Husted of Mystic. Two sisters, Sarah and Isabelle, preceded her in death. She also leaves twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted January 15, 1942, by Rev. George Swan, Sr., at the East Union church known as the Jones church, and burial was made in the Jones cemetery. The text was Mark 14:8.
