Ott B. Abernethy Dies; Services Held Thursday
Ott B. Abernethy, retired road contractor, died at 5:30 a.m.Monday in the Shearer-Richardson Memorial Nursing Home where he lived for more than a year. He was 84 years of age.
Mr. Abernethy, a lifelong resident of Okolona, was a member of the Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Barry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L. K. Foster officiating. Burial followed in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with Barry in charge.
He leaves two sons,Marion Abernethy of Jackson, and William E. Abernethy of Columbus;one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Anderson of Okolona; two sisters, Mrs. H. C. Hume of Owensboro, Ky., and Mrs. Winston Murphree of Okolona; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His wife wife preceded him in death several years ago.
