Thomas Ryan was the inventor of Canadian 5-Pin Bowling in the early 1900's. The bowling ball is small enough to fit in the palm of one's hand, and the bowling pins have rubber rings around them, and have point values (5 for the center pin, 3 for the two on either side of the center pin, and 2 for end pins behind the 3 point pins; an 'all strike game' equals 450 points). He was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1971.

In 1921 when his mother Catherine Lynch died, Tommy purchased 8 graves all contained within Section 3 Lot 18. Buried in those graves are:

Parents Catherine Lynch d. 1921 and Patrick Ryan d. 1921
Siblings John M. Ryan d. 1939, James J. Ryan d. 1944 and his wife Catherine Blackburn d. 1971 and Mary Josephine Ryan d. 1961.
Thomas Francis Ryan d. 1961 and his wife Ruth Robins d. 1960.
Most of the graves are marked with small flat headstones as visible in the forefront of the attached image. Unfortunately, there is no marker on the grave of Thomas Francis Ryan.
