Pearl Clifton Shumaker born January 27, 1892 in Macon, Missouri was the son of Finley and Sarah Elizabeth (Allen) Shumaker. Pearl married Sylvia Rae Smith on July 2, 1914 in Novinger, Missouri. Pearl was the father of two sons, Gilbert Shelton (Eileen) Shumaker of Englewood, Colorado and Harold Lloyd (Willadean) Shumaker of Novinger, Missouri. Grandfather to Sandra and Sharon Shumaker of Englewood, Colorado and Paul Eugene Shumaker of Novinger, Missouri. Pearl had lived his lifetime in Adair County, and worked in the coal mines of the county, except for five years during World War II when he was employed at an iron works in Keokuk, Iowa.

Pearl died on December 27, 1957. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three grandchildren. Two sisters, Lottie Duretta Steen who died in 1930 and Mary Duretta Moxley who died in 1928, preceded him in death.

Services wre held at Dee Riley Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri on December 30, 1957 at 1:30 p.m. Burial was in Novinger Cemetery in Novinger, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Gerald Blacksmith, Fred Blacksmith, Murrell Shumaker, Leonard Shumaker, Don Guy and Kenneth Cunningham.
