The sixth of nine children and beloved first daughter of Verle Thomas & Flora Dorset (Clevenger) Warfield of Rushville, Rush Co IN, Bonnie married Robert Don Mosier on 14 Sep 1946 in Indianapolis, Marion Co IN. They had one daughter and three sons.
On their marriage license, dated 13 Sep 1946, Mom wrote she was living on South Lyons St in Mars Hill and was employed by Real Silk Hosiery Mills. Real Silk Inc is still around. The mills, located on North Park in Indpls, were converted into condominiums abt 1989.
My Mother was so beautiful, inside and outside. She was a hard worker all her life. She cared most deeply for the very young and the very old, those who could not care for themselves. She worked in Nursing Homes for many years in Rushville IN and gave in-home care to those in need. Later in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights in her life. We all miss her so very much and feel so privileged to have known and loved her. I am so proud to call her my Mom.
Mom was also a very talented and an expert seamstress. In the 1960's we had a 10' or 12' long corner couch, which was Danish Modern, a very popular style at the time. When everyone's taste changed to Early American, my Mother re-upholstered that huge couch, complete with ruffled skirt at the bottom. Her sewing machine was an old foot-peddle Singer. My Mom is amazing.
She was also the best cook. Recently, my Aunt sent me Mom's cookbook, dated 1946, the year she married my Dad. It was obvious the book had been well-used and as I looked through it, I saw so many of the wonderful dishes she had served our family over the years. I treasure this book so much.
When my Mother was pregnant with her last child, I was pregnant with my first. What a wonderful experience to share with one's Mother! Our doctors shared a practice, so we always made our appointments together. It was fun sharing maternity clothes and shopping for baby things. Everyone thought we were sisters and I have always been grateful we had that special time together.
Every day I think of my Mom and wish so much we could turn back the clock. Everything I recall a memory of her. This morning I watched an old Victor Mature movie and remembered how much my Mother loved him. From the time she was a young girl, his dark, handsome looks were her picture of the ideal man. Although Dad was her ideal in looks, their marriage proved to be difficult and they divorced after 26 years of marriage. Dad remarried, but Mom never stopped loving him.
When our babies were little, Mom and I would take them on drives to the beach at least twice a month. She would always want me to take the route through Rancho Santa Fe, because Victor Mature lived there. I think she always hoped one day he would be in the yard as we drove by.
My Mom died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.
